To be honest, there’s only one legs of the journey that is both worrying and fascinating and that’s Africa. I decided that the best way to conquer this beast is worth some careful planning, but it will involve either heading down the west coast or, more probably, cycling beside the mighty Nile River.
From Egypt, the plan is to:
-
cycle through Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and into Tanzania; and,
either:
-
sail to Madagascar, ride from north to south and sail to Mozambique and cycle to South Africa; or
-
into Zambia, Botswana and South Africa; or
-
Malawi, Mozambique and into South Africa.
Once in Cape Town, the plan is to take some time out and rest for a few months to organise a trip across the South Atlantic, ready for the next stage of the expedition.
